The Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC has given a whole lot of love to faith and arcane builds, with an incredible variety of new incantations, dragon cult/communion spells, and powerful weapons for faith and arcane-based builds to use.
One of these weapons is the Flowerstone Gavel , a primarily arcane scaling weapon with an incredibly powerful ash of war called Flower Dragonbolt. Players can obtain the weapon by completing the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion quest, and it is well worth the effort considering its utility and power.

With how many items there are in Elden Ring and its DLC, players are bound to miss out on some of the rare things in FromSoftware's masterpiece.
Optimal Stat Distribution for Flowerstone Gavel in SOTE
The Flowerstone Gavel is a Hammer that deals Pierce damage and primarily scales with Strength and Arcane. The physical aspect of the weapon mostly depends on the strength stat, while the ash of war is almost entirely dependent on the arcane side of things. It also has a dexterity scaling, but it has negligible effect on the overall damage, so it can be safely ignored.
The normal attacks of the weapon don't have anything special, Flower Dragonbolt, the weapon's skill, is one of the best in the game and can deal an incredible amount of damage when properly used. It requires 18 FP to cast and can be charged for extra damage and a more powerful debuff.
The player raises their weapon into the sky, and releases a lightning bolt at the targeted enemy, hitting them with a lightning bolt that debuffs their lightning resistance for 20 seconds and deals decent damage. To maximize its damage, players need to invest as much as possible in their Arcane stat. Since the debuff makes enemies susceptible to lightning damage, you should invest your remaining points into faith and mind to utilize powerful dragon cult spells effectively. Because of the low-weight armor set you'll be using in this build, endurance is not a priority.

Endurance | 20 |

Best Talismans for Flowerstone Gavel in the Elden Ring DLC
If you're having trouble charging the attack without getting hit, you should swap out the Godfrey Icon with the Carian Filigreed Crest . It will help you manage your FP pool much better and not have to use the Flask of Cerulean Tears as often when fighting bosses.
Wondrous Physik Mixture for Flowerstone Gavel in Elden Ring
- Lightning-Shrouding Cracked Tear
- Bloodsucking Cracked Tear
Since the player will spend most of their time hanging behind and letting their summon tank most of the damage for the purposes of this build, the Bloodsucking Cracked Tear is a way to buff your damage without too much of a hassle. The downside of losing HP is easily mitigated by using a Flask whenever needed. However, it isn't an essential part of the build and can be swapped out of any crystal tear that the player likes.

Other Equipment for Flowerstone Gavel in Shadow of the Erdtree
- Armor:Death Knight Set
- Seal: Gravel Stone Seal
- Spirit Ash:Ancient Dragon Florissax , Ancient Dragon Knight Kristoff Ashes
The Death Knight Set gives the player a decent 8% buff when using Dragon Cult incantations so it's the best armor for this build. If you're not planning on using it, feel free to swap it with any armor of your choice. The Gravel Stone Seal also buffs the damage of Dragon Cult incantations by 15% as well, giving them a collective 23% buff from equipment alone. Combine that with the lightning damage negation debuff of the ash of war, and you've got a damage-dealing darling on your hands.

Gameplay with the Flowerstone Gavel in SOTE
The main difference when it comes to the playstyle of the Flowerstone Gavel comes down to your spell selection. The most suitable incantations for this weapon are lightning spells. Almost all of the lighting spells in the game belong to the Dragon Cult incantation family, making the Gravel Stone Seal and Death Knight Set a natural selection. Some of the best lighting spells are as follows:
That being said, playing with nothing but the weapon is just as viable. Its ash of war deals a lot more damage than you would expect and can deal with smaller enemies without even needing to be charged. Furthermore, it has the lightning affinity as well, making the debuff benefit you even if you're not using lightning spells specifically. However, you won't be able to get the extra damage buff from the Death Knight Armor and Gravel Stone Seal if you don't use Dragon Cult incantations.
You can also use the Bolt of Gransax for its ash of war, but that would require a high investment in both dexterity and endurance, though you won't have to invest in faith. Ultimately, the choice is up to the player. Using the Ancient Dragons' Lightning Strike after a few buffs, and the Flower Dragonbolt debuff can instantly delete enemies, but it's just as fun to steadily whittle down the boss' health bar over time using nothing but the weapon skill. There is beauty in simplicity, after all.
A typical boss fight will see the player summon a spirit ash of their choice. Any upgraded minion will do just fine since you have enough damage to deal with the boss on your own, the summon is only there to take away the aggro. Once you're sufficiently far away and the boss isn't focusing on you, charge your weapon and rain down lightning on your enemy. Once they're debuffed, you can switch to using your lightning spell of choice. Large bosses do particularly badly against the Ancient Dragons' Lightning Strike.
