Yes, you can book a pickup, if you choose the following delivery services:
- Sending within New Zealand:Courier (including Signature on delivery)
- Sending overseas:Economy Plus, Courier and Express services
You can then either book a pickup from the Send a Parcel tool, or, if you already have a label, you can use ourbook a pickup online form.
Exclusions:Pickup is not available for Economy or International Economy services. Please drop your labelled parcel off at your localNZ Post store.
The weight of a parcel is used to determine the cost of delivery. Overseas parcels are charged in 50g weight increments (rounded up to the next 50g).
When you process an order through our online Send a Parcel tool:
- The price you pay when generating your label is an estimate based on the weight, size and destination you enter.
- Once the item is processed, we check and weigh all parcels and charge your credit/debit card based on actual or volumetric weight, depending on the service you chose.
- We will notify you of the final price charged to your credit/debit card via an email. The final cost of delivery may be more or less than the estimate.
No, you don’t have to fill out a customs declaration form when sending using our online Send a Parcel tool. Sender, receiver and parcel content information is captured as part of the pay online process.
You can print your label onto white A4 paper or a shipping label.
If you print it on A4 paper, please ensure you size the label appropriately so the text on the label is legible. Sticky tape or glue can be used to attach the label to the parcel.
Yes, you can save your label to be printed when you’re ready to send your item.
There are two ways you can do this:
Email confirmation
When you process your order through Send a Parcel, we will send you an email confirmation with your ready-to-print label. You can save the email and print the label when you are ready to send.
NZ Post account
If you processed your order by signing in to your NZ Post Account, you can view and print labels from your order history, under My account > Orders, when you’re ready to send.
Labels are valid for one-time use only.
Yes, amount of compensation cover available to you as a sender, will depend on the service you use:
If the maximum value of your item is over the cover limit, you will not be covered for loss or damage.
Cover limits for sending within NZ:
- Economy service - maximum limit of NZ$250
- Courier service (including signature on delivery) - maximum limit of NZ$2000
Cover limits for sending overseas:
- Economy - maximum limit of NZ $250
- Economy Plus - maximum limit of NZ$2,000
- Courier - maximum limit of NZ$5,000
- Express - maximum limit of NZ$10,000
An Export Entry will be required for parcel values over NZ $1,000. Find out more about Export Entries.
Prohibited and Restricted items:
Due to safety regulations, some items are classified as ‘restricted and prohibited item’, which means they either can’t be sent, or can only be sent under certain conditions.
Please check Dangerous and Prohibited items for complete details and restrictions on sending these and other items.
Different rules apply to items that are sent within NZ or overseas.
Perishable items:
Our network is not suitable to carry perishable items that do not meet food carriage requirement, therefore we don't recommend sending perishable items through our network.

If you’re a business, you may be able to apply for an exemption from the Standard Terms and Conditions by emailing the sales team.
Each country (including NZ) has specific regulations about what can (and can't) be sent. It's your responsibility to check these regulations with the Customs authority before you send.
